The Best Compliance Manual

David Dickinson

By David Dickinson

I often get asked "what's the best compliance manual?"  Of course, I think our manuals are the best.  Smile  Excluding ours, I believe the Federal Reserve Board's (FRB) "Consumer Compliance Handbook" is the best.  The Handbook gives an overview of each regulation, in plain English.  They FRB Consumer Compliance Handbookalso provide a section on how to audit each regulation and then provide checklists that their examiners use.  Although it is written for their field examiners, it is a valuable resource for bankers as well.  I've also been impressed how the FRB continues to keep it up to date.

The last thing you need is another manual on your shelf. You can purchase this manual in a 3-ring binder, but it can be also be downloaded for free in Adobe (.pdf) so you can electronically search and only print what you need, when you need it.  If you decide you want the 3-ring binder version, it is very economically priced at $50 plus a $20 annual renewal fee.
