HMDA Getting It Right Updated

For those HMDA banks out there that may not have heard, the HMDA GIR manual was recently updated. It appears that most of the changes are technical, for example, updating dates, page numbers, etc. We have been unable to find any substantial changes or new interpretations.
Even though there are no major changes, we encourage you to download the new version. You can obtain a copy at http://www.ffiec.gov/hmda/pdf/2008guide.pdf.
The FFIEC also included a listing of all changes made to the HMDA GIR manual. You can access these at http://www.ffiec.gov/hmda/guideupdates2008.htm or we have also listed them below.
- Changed all references of years from 2007 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2009 on cover page and inside cover page.
- Changed month and year to June 2008 on inside cover page, bottom, left side.
- Changed the years from 2007 to 2008 on page 10, figure 3; on the partial forms on pages 11 and 13; and on the sample LAR form on page A-12.
- Pages v and G-5 -- second column, last paragraph, change Room 3086 to Room B3030
- Page 18 - first column, second paragraph, first sentence should read, A list of all valid census tract numbers in each MSA can be produced from the Census Windows Application (http://www.ffiec.gov/hmda/censusproducts.htm). Also, remove second sentence.
- Page D-4 -- paragraph 2, first column, change the asset threshold from $36 to $37 million and 2007 to 2008
- Changed MSA 42260 to MSA 14600, Manatee (081) county in Florida, see page F-5, first column.
- Changed MSA 42260 to MSA 14600, Sarasota (115) county in Florida, see page F-13, first column.
- Corrected information and order of OCC district offices, see page G-1, second column and page G-2, first column.
- Pages G-1, G-2, and G-5 - bottom of first and second columns, add *Some states are split between two districts.
- Page G-2 - second column, address, phone and fax correction for FDIC Dallas Regional Office to 1601 Bryan Street, Dallas, TX 75201 (214) 754-0098; FAX (972) 761-2082
- Corrected information for OTS district offices, see page G-3, second column and page G-4, first column.
- Corrected information for FRS district offices, see page G-4, second column and page G-5, first column.
