2012 HMDA Threshold Announced

By Amy Kudlacek
We’ve been waiting and waiting and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finally got around to it. They just announced an amendment to HMDA (12 CFR 1003) regarding the asset-size threshold used to determine HMDA applicability. The HMDA threshold was raised from $40 million in 2011 to $41 million and is effective today (February 15, 2012). This means that any financial institution with an office located in a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and has assets in excess of $41 million as of December 31, 2011, will be subject to HMDA in 2012.
